PRIDE Day 2008... Date : September 27, 2008 - Time : 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Location: Graceada Park - Address : Needham Ave. Modesto, CA. Join the Stanislaus PRIDE Center and the local gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community for the area's third annual pride celebration: Stanislaus PRIDE Day 2008.
The theme for Pride '08 is "Live. Love. Be." In addition to food, family, friends, and fun, event-goers can expect quality live music by local performers and other entertainment on the park's Mancini Bowl stage. The festival is FREE to attend, and open to all ages. Approximately seventy-five (75) vendors will fill the park, and a beer and wine garden (adults 21-and-up only; double ID check) will be staged. The following performers have been booked for Pride '08: Coyote Grace - a folk duo featuring a transman and a woman. The Hot Toddies - an all-girl pop-rock group from Oakland
Peech - last year's fave is back with a full band The Valentines - a local Spanish-rock band. Femmebotz - the area's most popular lesbian rock group. Romak and the Space Pirates - dance/electro-rock group from Orange County. Moon Trent - the B93 weekend DJ is back a 3rd consecutive year. Mid*One - positive and progressive "homo-hop artist" from the Bay Area
More about Stanislaus PRIDE Day 2008...Stanislaus PRIDE Day 2008 is the last of four pride- themed happenings hosted by the Stanislaus PRIDE Center in 2008. A Spring Fling dance party got the year of activities started off with in April, following by a night of queer comedy at The State Theatre in May, and the showing of the Fellow Travelers national touring GLBT historical photo exhibit (in partnership with the Modesto Art Museum) at Cafe Deva in June.
Stanislaus PRIDE Day 2008 is a celebration of gay pride in the greater Stanislaus County area; it is the only annual pride event to be held between Sacramento to Fresno. The 2006 event drew 450 attendees, and the 2007 event drew 2,000. Growing in popularity each year, another sharp increase in attendance is expected in 2008.
