Golf Tournamnet to Benefit Reno Firefighters Community Assistance Program ~ 7-30-2010 Golf Tournamnet to Benefit Reno Firefighters Community Assistance Program ~ Somersett to Sponsor Charity Golf Tournament for the Reno Fire Fighters Community Assistance Program On Friday, July 30, 2010, Somersett will host a Charity Golf Tournament for the Reno Fire Fighters Community Assistance Program, (RFFCAP), on their Canyon Nine Golf Course located at 7650 Town Square Way, Reno NV 89523. The cost to participate in the tournament is $30 per player and $210 for a six-person team. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 or $250 for a 6-person hole sponsorship team. The fee includes golf, BBQ lunch, live music, tee and team prizes. Check-in starts at 8:30 am for a 9:00 shotgun, and 10:30 am for an 11:00 am shotgun. The Community Assistance Program or “RFFCAP” is a non-profit organization established by the professional firefighters in the Reno and Washoe County area that is dedicated to providing financial relief and support to burn victims, fire survivors and their families after a tragedy. Funds raised by RFFCAP are used to pay for basic needs for individuals or families impacted by fire and other emergencies throughout the year as well as providing comfort to children who may have a short time left to live. During the holidays, CAP provides assistance to various charitable organizations in the community to help people and families that are less fortunate. RFFCAP funds are raised through various fundraisers, including their annual golf tournament. Funds to support RFFCAP community support activities are also raised through direct donations to the non-profit organization, as well as through the sale of off-duty “RFD” logo caps, floppy hats and t-shirts that make great gifts. These items will be available for sale at the tournament. The organization has evolved to serve a broader purpose in addition to the original program concept. RFFCAP originated many years ago to assist family members of injured firefighters being treated at distant regional burn centers with expenses not covered by insurance such as travel, car rental, motel and meal expenses. -MORE- Those interested in participating in this chartable event, can call Ryan Bopp, Golf Director for Somersett’s Canyon Nine at 775-787-4500.
