Driving Miss Daisy ~ 4-30-2010 Driving Miss Daisy ~ DRIVING MISS DAISY
Written by Alfred Uhry

DRIVING MISS DAISY will begin performances on Friday, April 30 –May 9 closing on Mother’s Day at Stage Aurora Theatrical Company located at 5188 Norwood Avenue inside Gateway Town Center. DRIVING MISS DAISY marks the fourth production of the season for Stage Aurora. The production will be directed by Patric Robinson and overseen by Founder Darryl Reuben Hall.

Alfred Uhry's much awarded play is a warm-hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Wertham (played by Sheila Brown and Deborah Hurm), a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son, Boolie (played by David Jon Davis), that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke (played by Eugene Lindsey), whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer's patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. But, in a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other, until, eventually, they become almost a couple.

DRIVING MISS DAISY won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 and went on to become an equally successful Academy Award-Winning movie, winning best picture, best actress, and best screenplay adaptation for Uhry.

DRIVING MISS DAISY will run April 30 –May 9 (Weekends Only)
Fridays, April 30 and May 7 @ 8:00 p.m.
Saturdays, May 1 and May 8 @ 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 8 @ 2:00 p.m. MATINEE
Sundays, May 2 and May 9 @ 3:00 p.m.

Stage Aurora Performance Hall
5188 Norwood Avenue (Inside Gateway Town Center)
Jacksonville, FL 32208

For more information and tickets, please call Stage Aurora Theatrical Company at
(904) 765-7372 OR (904) 765-7373 or find us Online at www.stageaurora.org or Ticketleap.com
Adults: $15/ Adv. & $20/Door and Seniors and Students (with I.
