The piece has been recognized as one of his all-time greatest achievements and considered a favorite with audiences worldwide. Admired around the world, the symphony has been used countless times to underscore momentous occasions such as the fall of the Berlin Wall. The RPO performed this piece on Ron Daniel’s final performance with the Phil, and again with Barry Jekowsky in 2003. The symphony’s final movement contains Friedrich Schiller’s poem “Ode to Joy.” It’s been written that the content of Schiller’s ode contains a plea for widespread joy and peace. “We planned this piece to be a celebration of the orchestra and the organization,” said Laura Jackson, Music Director of the Reno Philharmonic. The symphony has four soloists, soprano, tenor, bass and mezzo-soprano, to be named later, and will also feature the Reno Philharmonic Chorus, prepared by Jennifer Tibben-Lembke.

Prices start at $28 with discounts available to seniors. Students with valid student ID can come early for “rush” seating ½ hour before performance for $8.00. Patrons can join the Music Director Laura Jackson one-half hour prior to each performance for “A Preview from the Podium.” For more information or tickets log onto www.RenoPhil.com, or call the Reno Phil boxoffice (775) 323-6393.
Reno Events
